It’s World Backup Day!
Have you ever lost your phone or had your computer stop working? How much data did you lose when that happened? March 31st is the World Backup Day (WBD), and it’s a great day to remind us ‘’Not to be an April’s fool’’.
But what is a Backup, and why is it so important to have one?

According to a research done by the WBD, stolen phones, damaged computers, malware infections, and accident deletes, are the main cause of data loss. If it’s either from a personal level, talking about family photos and home videos, or from a professional/business one, like a whole company’s database, (legal documents, work plans, employee’s directory, etc.)
A research performed by Backblaze stated that at least 30% of people have never done a Backup, not even once. So, how can you Backup?
There are two ways, you can save all your data in an external drive (a USB, for example), having the risk of forgetting where you put it. The second option is to save everything in the Cloud, which we consider to be more secure.
Where to Backup Online?
There are a few Online drives, such as Microsoft OneDrive or Dropbox, but they tend to have space just for one folder or two.
These Online drives are perfect for students, professionals, or any individual that needs to exclusively Backup their most important files.
Having a Backup is important for everyone, but when it comes to an entire business database, it turns into a more complex process.
The Cost of a Data Breach Report 2020, stated that the global average total cost of a data breach, for that year, was of $3.86 million. The United States was considered the highest country average cost with $8.64 million, that same year.
