October 2025 - Microsoft End of Life Updates

Microsoft End of Life Updates October 2025

Table of Contents

Microsoft End of Life Updates have been announced for several of their products on October 14, 2025. Between these, Windows 10 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 and 2019, are some of the most important. If you are still using these, it is crucial to start planning and deploying upgrades to ensure that your organization stays supported and secure.

Windows 10 End of Life

On October 14, 2025, the last security update will be deployed for Windows 10, marking Windows 10’s EOL. After that there won’t be any more support from Microsoft including:

  • Technical support of any issue
  • Software updates
  • Security updates or fixes
  • Microsoft 365 Apps

While you’ll still be able to make use of Windows 10, over time, vulnerabilities and security flaws can be discovered. Without Microsoft’s support or security updates, your system will be at risk.

Next Steps: Windows 11 Migration

Upgrading your system to Windows 11 is the best way to keep your organization up to date. While the idea of deploying an entire line of devices can be overwhelming, there are several courses of action for a smooth, seamless transition. Microsoft Intune can be a game changer for your upgrade, and contacting a Microsoft Partner like Team venti can help you ensure a secure Windows 11 migration.

Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 End of Life

The Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 will also be retired in October 2025. Without security updates and support, your email will be vulnerable and at risk of:

  • Security breaches: Without security updates, your environment will be vulnerable and a prime target for hackers.
  • Compliance issues: Outdated software can make compliance difficult and costly.
  • Limited functionality: You won’t have access to new features that could improve your team’s productivity and collaboration.

Some of your options include moving to the cloud with Microsoft Exchange Online or Exchange Server Subscription Edition. Read our blog article on the Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 End of Life for an in-depth look at your options.

Keep your organization secure and updated

With the Microsoft end of life for Windows 10 and Exchange Server 2016/2019 quickly approaching, it is critical to act now. Continuing to operate on unsupported systems increases the risk of security vulnerabilities, compliance issues, and reduced productivity. Carefully planning your upgrade to Windows 11 and exploring new alternatives to Microsoft Exchange Server (such as Exchange Online) will help keep your infrastructure secure, supported, and aligned with current best practices.
